Special Opportunity Admission (all tiers)
Any student who has not graduated from high school but whose
final composite standard score on the ACT or SAT demonstrates
the probability of success in college level work may apply for
admission at any public institution in the State System. The
college or university will determine admissibility based on test
scores, evaluation of the student's level of maturity and ability
to function in the adult college environment, and whether the
experience will be in the best interest of students intellectually
and socially.
Bridge Program
Recent high school graduates who are not college ready have the
opportunity to show they can complete college level courses. To
qualify, students must be a first-time entering student, graduate
from an accredited high school or earn a GED, and participate in
assessment for placement purposes. Admission decisions will be
based on the applicant's academic performance, potential for
success, and/or the unique mission of the institution/program.
Alternative Admission (research and regional universities)
Institutions may admit students who do not meet regular
admission criteria but who are believed to have a reasonable chance
for academic success, have unusual talent or ability in art, drama,
music, sports, or are educationally or economically disadvantaged
and show promise of being able to succeed in college level course
work at the institution where they desire to enroll.
Adult Admission
Students 21 years of age and older or on active military duty
are eligible for admission to any college or university based on
criteria established at the campus. Non-high school graduates whose
high school class has graduated and who have participated in the
ACT or SAT are eligible for open admission to any two-year
college.
